In Nudge, ownership answers "who is responsible for this?" It drives task lists, the dashboard, and (for deals) who can see the deal when using private pipelines.
Deal ownership
Every deal has an owner. When you create a deal, you are the owner by default. You can change the owner from the deal detail page in the sidebar. The owner:
- Sees the deal in their pipeline view and dashboard context.
- Is the default owner for new next actions on that deal (you can reassign when adding a task).
- Appears on the deal card on the board so the team can see who leads the relationship.
Use deal ownership when one person leads the relationship or the sale. When ownership changes (e.g. a handoff), Nudge records an Owner change activity.
Contact ownership
Contacts can have an owner in some setups (e.g. after import or when assigned). When present, it indicates who primarily manages that relationship. Task ownership is separate: you can assign a next action to any team member regardless of contact or deal ownership.
Who sees what
- Shared pipelines: all members see the deal. The owner is the primary point of contact.
- Private pipelines (Premium): only the pipeline owner sees the deal and its tasks. Ownership there means "who owns this deal inside their private pipeline."
Best practice: set the deal owner to the person who should be doing the next action and following up. That way their Today and Tasks lists reflect reality.
